KHALAM (Medicated Buttermilk)
Ingredients Quantity
Ginger - Small piece
Buttermilk - 2 cups
Asafoetida - 2 pinches
Turmeric powder - 2 pinches
Rock salt - as per taste
Pepper - 2 pinches
Or Red chillies - 2 no's.
Total quantity: 1 glass
Method of preparation
Paste of ginger should be added to boiling buttermilk and further boiled for a minute.
Add powdered asafoetida, rock-salt and pepper.

It is an appetizer and beneficial during recovery from any illness. Useful
during cold, cough, digestive problems or any other health problem.
Precautions
Buttermilk may cause allergic reactions in some people with lactose intolerance.
