The 21 Sacred Leaves (Ekavimshati Patra) and Their Ayurvedic Health Benefits

In Indian tradition, 21 sacred leaves are worshipped putting them under Lord Vinayaka and also used for their medicinal values. Each leaf carries unique healing properties that support physical and mental well-being.

1. Machi Leaf (Artemisia vulgaris)

A fragrant leaf that helps relieve headaches and eye disorders.

2. Brihati Leaf (Solanum indicum)

Useful in cough, asthma, throat, and lung problems.

3. Bilva Leaf (Bael / Aegle marmelos)

Highly beneficial tree. Its leaves cure various skin disorders, while the bark is used in diarrhea and digestive troubles.

4. Durva Grass (Cynodon dactylon)

Acts as a remedy for bleeding disorders and urinary problems.

5. Datura Leaf (Datura metel)

Effective in asthma, chronic cough, and joint pains. The juice is an antidote for insect, scorpion, and rat bites.

6. Badari Leaf (Jujube / Zizyphus jujuba)

Helps in indigestion, purifies blood, improves fertility, and supports easy childbirth (used in decoction form).

7. Apamarga Leaf (Prickly chaff flower / Achyranthes aspera)

Excellent for wound healing and skin problems.

8. Tulasi Leaf (Ocimum sanctum)

Sacred leaf that relieves cough, cold, fever, and skin diseases. It also destroys germs and protects plants from pests.

9. Chuta Leaf (Mango leaf)

Mango is one of the oldest fruit trees known to mankind. The leaves give relief from foot ailments.

11. Vishnukranta Leaf (Evolvulus alsinoides)
