Honey Truth: Only 3 Made the Cut

Is Your Honey Really Pure?
Dear doctors think before you advice
Shocking Findings You Must Know!

By Dr. Varakala Yamini Sowbhagya, Ayurvedic Physician.

In Ayurveda, Madhu (honey) is considered Amrita (nectar) that promotes health, balances Doshas, boosts immunity, and aids digestion. It is rampantly used as anupana for many drugs,

But what if the honey we consume daily is not what it claims to be?

A recent investigation by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has revealed disturbing facts. Out of 13 popular honey brands tested in India, 10 failed the “purity test” when checked using advanced Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) technology in a German lab
 What Did They Find?
Many honey brands were found to be adulterated with synthetic sugar syrups, some imported from China.
These syrups are cleverly designed to pass Indian regulatory tests, making them hard to detect.

Only three brands :Saffola, Markfed Sohna, and Nature’s Nectar have passed the NMR purity test

 Why Is This Dangerous?
Ayurveda uses honey not just as a sweetener but as a Yogavahi, a carrier that enhances the effect of medicines.
If honey is mixed with sugar syrups, It loses its medicinal qualities. It may lead to weight gain, diabetes risk, and metabolic imbalances. The immune-boosting benefit we expect is completely lost.

How to Choose Pure Honey in Daily Life?
 1. Source directly from trusted local beekeepers whenever possible.
 2. Look for honey that crystallizes naturally  pure honey often does.
 3. Avoid extremely clear, watery honey. It is often processed or diluted.
 4. Test at home: In Ayurveda, pure honey when dropped in water settles at the bottom without dissolving quickly.

Final Note During these times when we turn to honey for immunity , especially post-COVID — it’s crucial to ensure what we consume is truly Madhu, not a sugar syrup in disguise.

Remember, in Ayurveda, purity is the first step towards healing.
